AFC Leopards appoint Stewart Hall as new head coach

Struggling Kenyan Premier League giants, AFC Leopards have on Wednesday appointed Briton Stewart Hall as their new head coach, replacing the sacked Belgian Ivan Jacky Minnaert.

The Executive Committee of Leopards have given the Briton an initial two-year performance related deal and was picked among shortlisted candidates among them Sam Timbe, Didier Homes Da Rosa, Rwandan Andrew Mbungo, Frenchman Patrick Liewig and Serbian Popadic Dragan.

Hall famously signed a deal to manage KPL side Sofapaka in September 2012 but resigned and returned to Tanzanian giants, Azam FC after only seven weeks having been sacked by the same club on August 2 of that year.

Previously, the new Ingwe boss was a director of former English Premier League side and 2009 League Cup winners, Birmingham City FC’s academy before going on to manage Saint Vincent and Grenadines national football sides,

The well-travelled coach then pitched tent at Indian outfit, Pune FC and in 2010 was appointed head coach of Zanzibar national team before leaving the position shortly after for technical reasons.

Hall quit Azam in November 2013 and was in charge of the side when they beat Leopards’ archrivals Gor Mahia 2-0 in the final of the Cecafa Kagame Cup held in Tanzania last year.

The Briton will be on the dugout on Sunday when Ingwe take on Gor in the second leg of the KPL Mashemeji Derby.
