AFC Leopards bans sale of replica merchandise

AFC Leopards, National Executive Council, have with immediate effect suspended the sale of the club’s replica jerseys and other team branded merchandise.

Leopards chairman Daniel Mule says unscrupulous businessmen have imported thousands of replica shirts in containers that have been discovered in the port city of Mombasa with an aim of cheating unsuspecting fans ahead of the 2017 Kenya Premier League (KPL) kick-off in March.

“The AFC Leopards NEC is aware of business people who have imported into the country a container with AFC replica Jerseys and we would want our fans to know that they have not been mandated by this club to sell them, they did not even consult us when importing the jerseys,” Mule told Citizen Digital.

“We have already reported the matter to the Anti-Counterfeit Agency and The DCI, so anyone found selling the replica shirts will be delt with according to the Law,” the soft spoken Chairman added.

“We want our fans to know that the sale of the fake replica shirts will not benefit our club in any way, so for the sake of the club we ask them to wait for official communication from the team’s leadership,” Mule stressed.

Former Leopards striker Boniface Ambani was the only person mandated by the team to sell the shirts.
