AFC Leopards shed light on pending sponsorship deal

AFC Leopards have moved to clear the air regarding speculations over an impending sponsorship deal.

The club’s interim vice chair Dan Mule said the reports on a section of the media claiming that a deal has been reached between AFC Leopards and betting firm Sportpesa were conjectural saying it was too early to tell.

The reports in the media indicating that we have reached an agreement regarding a sponsorship deal are false. We are in discussion with two potential sponsors but nothing concrete has been agreed on,” said Mule.

He said the club would issue a statement once a deal is struck before the beginning the season next month.

Several media outlets had on Wednesday intimated that Ingwe had reached a five-year deal with betting firm worth 150 million.

AFC Leopards has experienced turbulent times since the withdrawal of Mumias Sugar Company as their sponsors over financial issues at the company.

Since losing sponsorship, the club has lost a number of their key players including midfielders Jacob Keli, Musa Mudde, Bernard Mang’oli, Peter Opiyo, Jackson Saleh, James Situma and goalkeeper Wycliffe Kasaya among others.
