Afrobasket: Cautions Owuor to take one game at a time

The Kenya men’s basketball team head coach Cliff Owuor says he will take one game at a time as they begin their Afrobasket qualifiers in Kigali, Rwanda on Wednesday.

Owuor at the same time reckons that winning their opening match will be key as it will make the team have the focus needed in the tourney.

The Morans will begin their campaign against Senegal which Owuor says is a tough side based on stellar names in the squad’s roster, with nearly all their players plying their trade in foreign leagues.

He also cites their giant frames which he notes could hand them an advantage.

“They have size as their biggest advantage and also most of them if not all are European-based players,” Owuor said.

After tackling Senegal on Wednesday, Morans will cross swords with Angola on Thursday and later on face Mozambique on Friday.

The Morans qualified for the second round after winning the pre-qualification round that was held at Nyayo Stadium gymnasium earlier this year.

Only the top three teams from the qualification journey will qualify for the Afrobasket Championship that will be held in Kigali, Rwanda next year.
