Afrobasket: Morans skipper Ligare tips foreign legion to boost squad

Skipper Griffins Ligare expects the foreign legion to hand the national men basketball team Morans a big boost once they join camp ahead of Afrobasket qualifiers.

The local based players have been having daily workouts at the Nyayo Gymnasium with the foreign-legion expected to join camp two weeks to the championship.

“When they come with that experience they normally boost us very much having in mind the kind of experience they get outside there which is rare to get in this region. We try to put as much effort as we can so that when they come it makes work easier for the team to gel,” Ligare said.

With the playing unit having not trained together for over six months thanks to Covid-19 pandemic, Ligare noted that the first three weeks of training have mainly emphasised on regaining fitness.

“We are using this time to get our match fitness back, to get a feel of the ball, a feel of the game then after that the coaches will tell is what next,” added the point guard.

The qualifiers are set to take place in Kigali, Rwanda from 25th to 29th November 2020 with Kenya facing Angola, Mozambique and Senegal.

The Morans qualified for the second round after winning the pre-qualification round that was held at Nyayo Stadium gymnasium earlier this year.
