Ali moves for FIFA election to be suspended

Prince Ali bin al-Hussein’s lawyers have made a formal request to have Friday’s FIFA presidential election suspended.

His legal representatives confirmed that they have asked the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to suspend the election over a dispute on voting arrangements.

Jordanian Ali is one of five candidates and wanted transparent voting booths for the election on Friday.

But this proposal was rejected by the governing body’s election commission.

Sheikh Salman bin al-Khalifa, Gianni Infantino, Tokyo Sexwale and Jerome Champagne are the four other candidates in the election with Salman the favourite to take over as president.
