All set for Chapa Dimba Eastern Region finals in Kitui

Southern branch Chapa Dimba champions St. Mary’s Ndovea Girls of Makueni county head coach John Mutie is upbeat his charges will triumph in the Eastern region Chapa Dimba finals set for this weekend at Kitui Showground in Kitui.

The tactician believes his side will replicate their Southern branch good form during the regional finals after going against all odds to clinch their maiden title in the history of their soccer investment as they blanked Kitui Girls 2-0 in the branch finals.

Ndovea will face Marsabit’s champions Sakuu Queens in the first semi-final from 8am on Saturday and Mutie is optimistic the girls’ title will remain with Makueni County after their compatriots Ngakaa Talent center won the inaugural edition last year.

“Basing on our performance during branch finals, I think we will win the title because we have had good build ups and no injuries in my squad so far,” he said, adding: “I thank Safaricom for this tournament because it is a good platform to churn out new talent.”

In the other girls’ semi-final, Karugwa Queens from Meru Central face Chuka Starlets from Meru South from 12pm.

In the boy’s contest, Isiolo Young Stars will play Triumph Boys from Embu from 10am while Mwingi’s Super Solico will take on Samba Boys of Moyale in the second semi finals from 2pm.

The region’s defending champions, Mwingi Junior Academy and Ngakaa Talent Center, failed to qualify for regional finals which paves way for new champions to be crowned.

The regional winners will receive a cash reward of Sh. 200,000 each and a chance to represent the region in the tournament’s national finals set for Meru County in June. The runners- up will also pocket Sh. 100,000 each.

Already, Western region’s Bishop Njenga Girls and Lugari Blue Saints as well as Manyatta Boys and Ndhiwa Queens from Nyanza have qualified for the national finals after winning their respective regional titles.

After Eastern the tournament moves to Coast, Central, Rift Valley North Eastern and Nairobi regions as the race to La Liga heats up.

This year an all-star team will be selected to attend a training camp in Spain during which they will play against local youth sides.
