Six counties will converge at the Narok Stadium where the South Rift Regional Athletics Championships will get underway on Saturday.

Athletes from Kericho, Bomet, Laikipai, Narok, Nakuru and Kajiado counties will vie for tickets to the June 21-23 National Championship ahead of the Africa Track & Field that will be held in Nigeria.

Athletics Kenya (AK) Narok County boss Paul Keriako said they expect a competitive outing and hoped selectors can piece together a strong team for the national event.

“We expect a tough competition since it brings together the greatest teams. We want to get a strong team from here that will for the trials in Kasarani later this month,’’ Keriako said.

Only the top three athletes in each discipline who will achieve qualifying times will be selected for the National Trials where a team will be picked to represent the country during the continental competition set for August 1-5 in Assaba, Nigeria.
