All set for Thange Cross Country
Its all systems go for this year’s second edition of Kenya Pipeline Thange Cross Country slated for Tuesday December 12 at Maikuu Primary School in Kibwezi East Constituency, Makueni County.
The Athletics Kenya sanctioned-event which was inaugurated last year with the presence of high profile elites like former world marathon record holder Patrick Makau and world 5,000m silver medalist Caleb Mwangangi, is organized in order to nurture talents in the southern region and also create a formidable relationship between the oil company and the locals.
AK first vice-president Paul Mutwii who is also the region’s AK supremo said that the event is set to take place, urging the locals to come out in large numbers.
“I’m calling upon the locals who are interested in this year’s edition to come out in large numbers so that we continue improving the talent,” Mutwii told Citizen Digital.
This year’s edition features the 10km race for senior men and 8km for senior women, with junior men and junior women squaring it in 8km and 6km respectively.
The top 10 finishers in various categories will pocket cash prizes, while the winners in the senior men and women category will pocket Sh25,000, as first and second runners-up take home Sh15,000 and Sh10,000 respectively.The event begins at 9am
