Ambani backs midfielder Osok to shine in Zambia

Wazito FC head coach Fred Ambani has backed Teddy Osok to shine at his new Zambian club Kitwe United, saying ‘discipline, hard work and dedication’ are key attributes that stand out for the defensive midfielder.

Osok, who signed a one-year deal at the club on Thursday, has been unattached since July when he was dismissed by Wazito FC during a mass dismissal that saw Derrick Otanga, Victor Ndinya, and Lloyd Wahome also released.

“His work ethic and determination to succeed are just outstanding and are the reasons why he will go far in his career. He has my blessing and we wish him all the best in his new adventure,” said Ambani

Osok has previously played for Gor Mahia Youth, KCB FC, Sofapaka and Wazito. He is also capped by the junior National teams Harambee Stars Under 20 and Under 23 an accomplishment that his former coach believes propelled his move to Zambia.

“Playing in his position requires a sharp mind which I believe he has. He knows when to talk, who to pass the ball to and how to communicate with his fellow midfielder. I hope he will market Kenyan football there,” added the head coach .

Ambani also confirmed his team has resumed training but maintaining the strict Covid-19 rules.

“We are training in bunches because we have to observe the strict Covid rules that have been put in place by the government but am very impressed with the team work I am seeing and the hard work the players are putting in place .

“I am hopeful that if the government allows football to resume we will have a solid team that will jell well and fight for trophies,”said the former Kenyan international.”

The Government allowed sports teams to resume non-contact training last month and the phased resumption of action could take a significant step next week on Wednesday if the relegation/promotion playoff pitting Vihiga United and Kisumu All Stars goes ahead as planned.
