Ambani: Promotion not yet secured for Wazito

Wazito Fc head coach Fred Ambani has urged his players to stay calm and focus more on the last match as they approach the National Super League (NSL) wrap up.

Ambani’s Wazito, who are currently one point ahead of second place Kisumu All- Stars and third place Nairobi stima, are looking forward to their last game on Sunday a match that could see the team secure a place in the Kenyan Premier League.

“If you we want to stay up we must win, and I’m so happy with my boys they go to the pitch and do what they have to do,” said Ambani.

Wazito still need a win to be safe as the head coach, Ambani says he doesn’t want to put pressure on his boys adding that this can lead to a heavy defeat that might cost them in the finale.

“As a coach I have learnt that, if you give the team pressure the next game will be difficult to win so we just have to get prepared, we are not safe we just need to a win; even a draw is not safe to us”.

He termed the NSL as a very competitive league, and playing against experienced coaches isn’t easy as their fans would think, and his players have been able to prove worth every time they get into action.

“Nobody wants a loss. Every coach is experienced and clubs that you confident against are the clubs that score against you and vise verse. The league is competitive and its better to play only one two seasons here and leave,” he told Citizen Digital.

Speaking during the post match interview after a 4-1 win against Talanta Fc , Ambani believes that the team need to work hard both skillfully and mentality.

The head coach now wants his boys to be patient and focus more on sealing the game and that has been their weakness in the past matches that made them lose 5-3 against Nairobi Stima last weekend.

A win will see them claim the title this weekend.

“When leading we always want to go for more goals instead of playing the ball within us and sealing the game which makes us to concede more goals. The boys just need to be calm to win,” he added.

Wazito FC will be wrapping up the league against St. Joseph youth at Camp Toyoyo at 2pm and a win for the league leaders will see them clinch the title with 81 points and a promotion to the Kenya Premier League.

However, losing their last match this weekend can also shutter their promotion hopes if second place Kisumu All stars, who managed a 4-2 win against the Green Commandos, and third place Nairobi Stima, who won 3-0 against Shabana FC, win their forthcoming matches.

Kisumu All-Stars will face Thika united as Nairobi sSima wrap up NSL against Eldoret Youth.
