Ambani rejects calls to team up with Shikanda ahead of Leopards polls

AFC Leopards former star striker Boniface Ambani has scoffed at calls to work closely with his rival Dan Shikanda, also a former international, and agree on who amongst them should run for Leopards top seat at the forthcoming club elections.

There has been heightened calls from a section of fans and club legends to have the two team up to clinch the chairmanship and secretary general post in the June polls but Ambani has poured cold water on these calls.

According to Ambani, who is currently coaching AFC Leopards junior team, time is ripe for him to lead from the front and clean up the mess at the den to restore the club’s lost glory.

Others vying for the chairmanship are businessman Maurice Amahwa, lawyer Benson Musundi, Vincent Shimoli and former chief executive officers Richard Ekhalie and Ronald Namai.

“Our ideologies are not the same, there is what I want do for this club and I have a bigger following of fans whom I must not disappoint,” said Ambani.

“He (Shikanda Dan) told me that I am still young and so I have to surrender for him since he is senior to me, that is not how things work boss,”charged Ambani .

In February this year, Ambani rejected the club’s appointment as an assistant coach to Casa Mbungo demanding the team officials make an official statement before he could take up the offer.

Ambani has also lamented at the electoral clearance process terming it “tiresome”. “A lot of things are still in darkness, it is hectic,”he concluded.

The term of the current office ends in June and with club chairman Dan Mule not defending his seat.
Others posts available for grabs is that of the treasurer and the organizing secretary.
