Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) volleyball team is looking forward to a successful season after bolstering their ranks with four new top signings.

National team captain Mercy Moim became the latest acquisition for the Bankers this week after putting pen to paper to a three-year deal. Moim, a former KCB player, will join middle blocker Edith Wisa who also joined the team from Kenya Prisons.

Other signings are Malkia Strikers opposite Sharon Chepchumba, formerly with Kenya Pipeline and Ugandan middle blocker Sharon Amito who crosses over from Ndejje University.

Team Patron Judith Sidi said the side is determined to build a professional outfit that will conquer Africa like in the golden era which ended in 2006 when they won their last Africa Club Championship title.

“We have been in consultations with the technical team and we are convinced that these four players will take the team to the next level. It’s a long term project that we believe will change the lives of these players and shape the future of Kenyan volleyball,” said Sidi

The four new signings are expected to blend in with other regulars in the team like Noel Murambi, Leonida Kasaya, Jemimah Siang’u and Rwandese setter Ernestine Akimanizanye.

Moim, the national volleyball team captain, 31, has inked a three-year deal to complete a matrix Sidi believes will be made better for both club and Malkia Strikers duties at KCB.
“The new signings will add depth to the squad as we challenge for continental glory. It is imperative for us to prepare well for the season. We have our sights clearly set on the goal to not only maintain our stellar performance but to do much more, ” said the KCB Group Head of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs.
Moim has had a remarkable volleyball career in the last 14 years both locally and in Europe. The 31-year-old will team up with other national team regulars Noel Murambi, Violet Makuto, Jemima Siangu and Leonida Kasaya.
“I am excited to join the KCB team; I believe that we will record massive success on the court in various outings,” she said offered.
KCB technical bench now comprises of Technical Advisor Paul Bitok, Head Coach Japheth Munala and Assistant coach David Muthui. The rest are strength and conditioning coach Philadelphia Orlando, team physio Simon Kibe, and trainer Eunice Maiyo. Moses Kimani will remain the Team manager.
They will begin their local challenge with Bungoma on 14th February at Nyayo Gymnasium ahead of the Africa club Championship.
