Amonde returns to KCB for Enterprise Cup showdown

Kenya sevens captain, Andrew Amonde has returned to his club KCB RFC to help the Lions in their quest to bag the Enterprise Cup in the final against Kabras Sugar on Saturday.

An initial squad of 40 has been cut down to 23 in the hunt for Enterprise glory in a clash with Amonde returning to the squad after steering Kenya Sevens team to a first ever HSBC World Series victory over Fiji at the Singapore 7s.

His introduction will see Griffin Musila start at the bench for the team that will be taking part in the final for the third time.

“When it’s your time to shine, no one can stop you. We have a youthful squad that believes in hard work and the cup is within our reach,” the sevens skipper added.

Head Coach Curtis Olago urged his players to go all out if they are to bag their second silverware of the season after their Floodlights victory.

Olago’s men go to the decider as the slight favourites after crushing Strathmore Leos 22-0 in the semifinals of the competition.

“The squad is fit and be assured that we will play the game of our lives on Saturday. The squad knows what is at stake and for now we are just perfecting our game,” Olago said after Friday’s training session at Nairobi’s Stima Club.

SQUAD:  Rocky Aguko (captain), Andrew Amonde, Oscar Simiyu, George Asin ,George Gichure,  Francis Mwita, John Ahenda,  Peter Waitere, Michael Wanjala,  Billy Isabwa, Peter Kilonzo,  Ken Moseti,  James Kilonzo,  Collins Wanjala  and  Elphas Otieno ranking as key players.

Reserves: Ken Andola, Benson Ndungu, Derrick Juma, Calvine Sule, Griffin Mshila, Marlin Mukolwe, Ken Andola, Arthur Ochien’g and Edwin Salamba
