Athletics Kenya (AK) is among six federations shortlisted for the Member Federation Award by the World Athletics.

The award seeks to recognise member federation that has managed to deliver an uplifting athletics event, development event or other athletics achievement, in spite of the health and safety challenges it faced in 2020.

Other federations nominated for the award are; Athletics New Zealand, Nicaraguan Athletics Federation, Palestine Athletics Federation, Peruvian Athletics Federation and Polish Athletics Federation.

AK landed the nomination having successfully hosted the World Athletics Continental Tour, Kip Keino Classic on October 3 amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Similarly, Kenyan teams shone at the World Half Marathon in Poland with Peres Jepchirchir also smashing the women-only Half Marathon record.

The winner of the award will be announced at the World Athletics gala that will be held virtually on December 5.
