Aussems pledges to deliver titles, extends stay at Leopards

AFC Leopards head coach Patrick Aussems has penned down a two-year deal with the club which will keep him at the den until 2023.

Ingwe have been holding intensive talks with the Belgian to convince him to stay despite the financial challenges facing the club, and have finally achieved their goal to hold on to the former Tanzanian giants Simba SC tactician.

On his official Twitter handle, Aussems said that he is delighted to extend his contract with Leopards and he is focused to mastermind better results come next season.

“l decided to extend my collaboration with AFC Leopards despite other offers. The target is to win titles by producing modern and attractive football and make fans happy.

“Let us all be focused on the success next season! The future is bright! Tuwe pamoja kufanikisha lengo hili (Let’s work together for this course)

Club treasurer Maurice Chichi said the new deal underscores Aussems commitment to walk the journey of restoring Leopards glory.

“We have agreed that he stays for two more years because we have seen that he has done a good job and he is keen to improve and build the team. He is happy and confident, AFC reminds him of where Simba SC were a few years ago, the journey he walked with them and where they are now. He can see the structures that we are trying to put up for the club,” Chichi said.

Aussems was appointed by the 12-time champions in February this year on a short term contract, taking over from then interim coach Anthony Kimani.

There was high hopes that Leopards who started the season on a high note would break their over two-decade drought without the Premier League title.

The dream is over now with four rounds to go, with Aussems saying he’s using the remaining matches to prepare for next season.

Although he came close to guiding Leopards to win the FKF Cup, rivals Gor beat them in the final.
