Australian Jason Day holes from 94 yards in Canadian Open

Australian Jason Day holed out from 94 yards for eagle at the par-four 10th to jump-start his round of 68 Thursday at the RBC Canadian Open in Ontario.

Day, the ninth ranked player in the world, went out in even par 35 before firing a back nine 33 with the eagle at the 10th followed by birdies at the 12th and 18th.

Emiliano Grillo of Argentina enjoyed a bogey free round of 64 with four birdies on both the front and back nine to grab a one stroke lead over Americans Vaughn Taylor and Brian Harman.

Among the big names competing this week, American world number three Bubba Watson and compatriot Jim Furyk, a twice former Canadian Open champion who is ranked seventh, opened with 68s.

Taylor made headlines last summer when his fishing boat capsised due to rough conditions on Thurmond Lake near his Augusta home. He was not wearing a life jacket and had to swim to shore, where park rangers rescued him.

South African Tim Clark, who clinched last year’s title at Royal Montreal by one shot, returned an even-par 72.
