Autopsy Report: Former rugby player George Mngongo died of cardiac arrest

Mwamba Rugby Football Club founder and former scrum half George Mng’ong’o died as a result of an asthmatic attack and cardiac arrest, a postmortem carried on Monday at the Chiromo mortuary has revealed.

A close family member told Citizen Digital on Tuesday that Mng’ong’o had gone ‘off air’ for about 10 days and according to his WhatsApp status he was last seen ‘active’ on the social media platform on November 22 at 11pm.

However according to the family source, the late neither answered calls nor replied to text messages sent to his inbox during this period.

It was until Sunday that’s his brother Samuel Goba accompanied by police went to his house in South B Riverside estate in Nairobi only to find the house locked forcing the police to forcefully open it and the door to his bedroom where hi lifeless body was found.

Mng’ong’o is one of the founder members of Mwamba RFC, a top flight rugby club in Kenya. He featured for the Kenya Cup side as a scrum-half.

His former club mourned him in a brief message posted on their Facebook page on Tuesday December 10.

“We regret to announce the passing of founder Mwamba Scrum Half, George Mng’ong’o,” the post read.

The deceased was uncle to Royal Media Services veteran Sports Reporter and Radio Citizen Commentator Ernest Mkalla wa Mwambodze.

Burial arrangements are underway at his home in Mazeras home in Mombasa County.

The body will leave Nairobi on 20th December for burial ceremony set for December 21.
