Ayimba names strong squad for Rugby 7s Olympic qualifiers
National Sevens rugby coach Benjamin Ayimba has named a strong squad for the 2016 Olympic Games qualifiers to be staged in Johannesburg South Africa on 14th and 15th of November 2015.
Youngsters Jeffrey Oluoch and Frank Wanyama make their international debuts alongside seasoned players who take up the remaining ten places in the squad.
Andrew Amonde will once again captain the team to South Africa. Willy Ambaka get the nod after a long injury lay off.
He impressed at the Safari Sevens and has earned his place in the team. Dennis Ombachi is also back in a team that will raise a lot of questions if they fail to make it to Rio 2016.
Kenya is in Pool A with Madagascar, Mauritius and Senegal. Pool B features Zimbabwe, Zambia, Nigeria and Uganda while Pool C comprises of Tunisia, Morocco, Namibia and Botswana.
Ayimba said: “Everybody is going to come hard at Kenya, but we are well prepared. We have a team that is the best we can ask for as a technical bench. We are fired up…the incentive is to qualify for the Olympics.”
