Bandari FC head coach Bernard Mwalala has urged his charges to cast aside disappointment from their Super Cup loss to Kariobangi Sharks FC when the two clash again on Saturday.

Sharks defeated Bandari 1-0 in the final of the exhibition tournament played in Tanzania last month and meet for the first time in a clash that will kick-start round 14 of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) matches.

Mwalala said their contest at the Kasarani Stadium does not represent a chance to exact revenge on their opponents but rather go above Mathare United and outright top of the KPL standings.

Bandari, who have a game in hand, trail league leaders Mathare only on goal difference and could seize leadership of the title race with victory or a draw against Sharks who sit sixth on the charts.

“I have tried to tell my boys they should go to the pitch knowing that this is a different match and our focus should be on this particular game. They should forget about what happened in Dar es Salaam.”

“There is a big similarity between us and Sharks, so I think it will be a tough match. They have young players and so do we. I think the general outcome will depend on how each team utilizes their chances,” Mwalala told Citizen Digital.

Bandari will miss the services of Meja Atariza and Fred Nkata who are out with injuries but Abdallah Hassan who did not play their last match will make a comeback.

Chemelil Sugar who are fourth from the bottom will battle to salvage their capsizing boat when they play Nzoia Sugar at the Sudi stadium. Chemelil are tied at ten points with embattled AFC Leoprds and Vihiga United.
