Bandari close in on striker Kasumba

Bandari FC are on the verge of signing former Sofapaka FC goal poacher Umar Kasumba as they bid to bolster their striking department.

Kasumba who left the FKF Premier League side in 2019 for Zambia’s Zesco United is training with the Mombasa based side and negotiations are at an advanced stage.

According to Bandari team manager Albert Ongari, they have submitted their request to their sponsors Kenya Ports Authority awaiting confirmation before unveiling the Ugandan striker.

“We are in the final stages of the deal and our sponsor’s response will finalize everything,” said Ongari.

Bandari coach Andre Casa Mbungo recently decried his blunt striking force with William Wadri being the most reliable goal poacher, scoring three goals in two matches.

“We need to capitalize on the chances we are creating if we are to match the top teams in the league,” explained the Rwandan tactician earlier on.

Kasumba who has been without a club for almost a year will battle for the first team opportunities alongside Congolese Yema Mwana and John Mwita.

Should he ink a deal he will be the club’s second signing in the mini transfer window after the club re-signed their former captain Felly Mulumba.

Mulumba has already featured in the last two matches, helping the club collect six points.

Bandari who are currently placed sixth on the 18-team league standings after 12 rounds of matches thanks to a 2-1 win over AFC Leopards on Friday will be hunting for more points Tuesday when they play host to Vihiga United at Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa.
