Sofapaka coach Odhiambo welcomes vaccine rollout plan for sportspersons

Sofapaka FC head coach Ken Odhiambo has applauded Football Kenya federation for their effort in engaging the Government to provide COVID-19 vaccines saying it signaled the possible return to action for the sport.

Odhiambo who also doubles as Harambee Stars assistant coach added that they are conducting personal training after sports suspension which has halted a lot of their plans.

“We appreciate the federation for the extra step in making sure the game restarts very soon and we are ready to take the jab,” said Odhiambo.

Bandari’s Team Manager Albert Ogari has welcomed the great news insisting that they are already engaging their team on the importance of the vaccine.

Ogari said that their squad is all in Mombasa except goalkeeper Justin Ndikumana who was in Burundi for the world cup qualifier with his nation but he will join the rest any day from today.

“We are just waiting for communication on our date but we are ready as a team because it will fasten the resumption of top flight football.”

According to the letter by FKF on vaccines, Wazito, Bidco and Gor Mahia will be the first clubs to receive the jab at Kasarani with all clubs within Nairobi following in the course of the day.

Other clubs outside Nairobi will receive more information on venue and dates.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Sports has kicked off a nationwide Covid-19 vaccination program that will see 3500 sportspersons and industry stakeholders inoculated over the next six days although first priority will be given to athletes heading to the Tokyo Olympic Games.
