Bandari eyeing Tusker revenge in Shield Cup
- Bandari FC coach Ken Odhiambo says his side will be on a revenge mission when they host Tusker FC in their weekend Shield Cup round of 32 tie at the Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa
- Tusker have a slight head to head edge against the Bandari, losing only three of their last eight meetings with that run including a 2-0 win over the Coastal outfit a fortnight ago in a Kenyan Premier League clash
Bandari FC coach Ken Odhiambo says his side will be on a revenge mission when they host Tusker FC in their weekend Shield Cup round of 32 tie at the Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa.
Tusker have a slight head to head edge against the Bandari, losing only three of their last eight meetings with that run including a 2-0 win over the Coastal outfit a fortnight ago in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash.
But Odhiambo says his charges are aware there will be no room for mistake in their next clash with the Brewers as they seek to reclaim the title they last won in 2015 when they defeated Nakumatt FC 4-2 in the final.
He told Citizen Digital, “We are ready to for them, ready to rectify our mistakes and I believe my boys are going to deliver. It’s a knockout, there’s no second chance so we are going to leave everything on the pitch. We are aware of the threat they can pose to us but we are focused to play our game and see if we can progress.”
After his side held Ulinzi Stars in a barren stalemate at the Afraha Stadium last Sunday,Odhiambo also revealed an injury prone Collins Agade to miss the clash and he will be on the sidelines for several months.
Agade who was back from a previous knee injury few weeks ago is expected to remain non the sidelines for atleast two-three months.
“I have a 98% fit squad to chose from but we are going to miss Agade who suffered an injury for the second time,However ,Hamis Abdhalla is in line to replace him and apart from him we have no other injury concerns.”added Odhiambo.
Tusker will hope to get back to winning ways having been struggling on the league front and in their recent matches, they have only tasted a single victory in their last six matches but it remains to be seen whether the brewers will bounce back in what could be a mouth watering clash.
Tusker Fc sailed to the FKF Shield round of 32 in style following a 7-0 thumping of Taita Taveta All-Stars earlier this month while Bandari registered a comfortable 3-1 against Garissa outfit Berlin FC.
The match will kick off at 3.00pm at the Mbaraki Sports Club with other Kenyan Premier League sides Kariobangi Sharks and Wazito facing off at Camp Toyoyo fifteen minutes later.
Earlier on Wednesday June 20 th,Gor Mahia sailed through to the next stage of Shield Cup after downing minnows Kenpoly 5-0 in a match played at Kenyatta Stadium on Wednesday which also saw striker Ephrem Guikan grabbing a hatrick for Dylan Kerr’s side.
