Bandari FC prepared for congested campaign

Bandari FC captain Felly Mulumba believes the club is ready for a packed season with the demands of challenging on three fronts, saying it’s a good challenge for the team to play the Confederation of Africa (CAF) matches.

Mulumba and his team must prepare for fixture congestion, especially with the Dockers required to travel long distances to honour league fixtures every week. The captain is confident his side has what it takes to challenge for the busy 2019-2020 season.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, the Congolese was quick to acknowledge the team’s success in recent years will be a catalyst as they look forward to the new campaign.

“It’s a good opportunity for us and a step forward for the team, we have finished second in the league for two seasons now but we are happier this season we delivered a trophy(Shield Cup). It’s a great achievement,” said Mulumba.

On the CAF assignment, he added, “we are ready as a team. We know we have a busy schedule but I can say that comes hand in hand with our success because without winning the Shield we would not be in that competition. We are going to try our best.”

After booking the ticket for the continental showcase, Kenya Ports Authority Managing Director Daniel Manduku pledged to take the boys to South Africa for their pre-season ahead of the new campaign.

The boys’ performance in recent years has seen them earn lots of goodies from the management and Mulumba, who has been linked with a move away from the club, has his sights on the tour.

“Last season we were in Zanzibar and now we have a South Africa token,” said Mulumba.

The Mwalala coached side will have to strengthen their side if they want to pose a serious challenge on the continental stage. Despite the acquisition of Zoo Kericho’s Danson Chetambe, Bandari will have to add two or three more signings to help them fight on all fronts with both physical and mental fatigue likely to catch up with the players.
