Bandari get Luvutsi, Agade boosts for Posta clash

Bandari FC will be buoyed by the return of midfielders Michael Luvutsi and Collins Agade as they seek to bounce back to winning ways against Posta Rangers.

Luvutsi has been a long-term injury absentee while Agade, who was signed from Muhoroni Youth FC at the start of the season, has been declared fit after three weeks out.

Bandari have six wins, five draws and four defeats from their opening 15 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) fixtures leaving them fifth on the standings and head coach Ken Odhiambo says that inconsistency has been fuelled by injuries on key players.

“We have been suffering in the last couple of weeks because some of my players were injured. A player like Luvutsi has been out of the team for the last one year so I’m happy he is back,” Odhiambo told Citizen Digital.

Agade sustained a slight knock during their 2-1 win over Nakumatt FC and his return offers stability back to the Dockers midfield with the former Zoo Kericho FC player having already established himself as a regular starter after just months at the club.

Posta come into the clash on the back of a three-match winless streak having suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Nzoia United in the previous round and will be eyeing only their fifth win of the season.

“We know they are a threat just like any other KPL team but collectively this is a match we are going to try and win,” Odhiambo offered.

The former Nairobi City Stars boss said they had set out to achieve a top five finish in the opening half of season and was pleased that they are well within hitting that target as the first leg reaches its conclusion this weekend.

“Our aim was to stay in the top five in the first leg and we are already there. We are still going to push in the second leg,” he said.

Elsewhere, Gor Mahia FC will turn their guns on domestic action following their CAF Confederation Cup group stage assignment against USM Alger which ended in a barre stalemate at the Kasarani Stadium.

Coach Dylan Kerr’s fatigued stars will afford only a three-day rest before hosting Sofapaka FC at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Despite their unrelenting fixtures schedule, Gor are four points clear at the summit of the KPL having played three fewer matches and could stretch that lead with a win on Sunday.

Second-placed Mathare United will look to shake off a five-match winless run when they travel to Kakamega Homeboyz.
