Bandari hopeful of a better stadium as renovation works on Mbaraki takes shape

Bandari FC could soon have a standard stadium as renovation works on their home venue,  Mbaraki Sports Club gathers pace.

Club organizing secretary Dickson Kibagendi said they have finished leveling and expanding the play field to meet the internationally required standards and are now focusing on the terraces.

“We have leveled the grass at a cost of Sh3.5million shillings and we are taking one step at a time before we have a standard stadium”, explained Kibagendi.

Despite the slow pace of renovations amid Corona virus, Kibagendi said they are aiming to install at least 2400 seats in the first phase of the project.

At the same time he has issued a rallying call to coastal fans to always come out in large numbers to support the club which is the team team from the region competing in the  top tier league.

“We will start with the ready space of 2400 seats in our first stage before we add many more, but fans must come in large numbers because we are doing all this for them,”he said.

The organizing secretary who doubles up as the stadium manager assured that the speed of the works will depend with the president’s directive today, regarding cessation of momvent  as Bandari is sponsored by Kenya Ports Authority, a government entity.

Bandari were forced to play their CAF Confederation Cup home matches at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi since Mbaraki did not meet the CAF requirements.
