Bandari miss chance to go top in Posta draw

Bandari FC moved into third on the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) standings after battling back to earn a point from their one-all draw against Posta Rangers at the Mbaraki Grounds in Mombasa on Thursday.

Posta defender Osman Suleiman’s own goal in added time of the opening half leveled matters after his side had taken an early lead through Francis Nambute.

Bandari piled the pressure in the second but were unable to find the winner as the visitors thwarted their chance to move into top of the table with a resilient second half display.

Gor thus remained perched at the summit on nine points after a perfect start of three wins in three with Western Stima and Bandari a point adrift on joint second.

Posta began on a high note and undid the Bandari defence after 21 minutes when Nambute headed home Oporia George cross.

Kenga wasted a one one chance with goalkeeper Darius Ajira after a swift counter attack had set him free but atoned for his miss moments later, heading an effort that deflected off Posta defender Osman Suleiman into the back of the net.

The Dockers will entertain Sofapaka FC in their next KPL assignment on Sunday at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
