Bandari new man Muhiddin eyes FKF Cup title

Bandari FC interim head coach Twahir Muhiddin has set sights on defending the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup title, barely a day after replacing sacked Bernard Mwalala.

Speaking Tuesday while laying open his plans for the Dockers, Muhiddin vowed to lead the club back to winning ways with retaining the Cup his main target.

Bandari made return to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the first time in four years in 2019 after dethroning 2018 Cup champions Kariobangi Sharks 3-1 and the new man in charge is out to ensure his charges feature at the continental scene regularly by defending their title.

“That is the only trophy remaining and we also want to take part again in the continental football. We need to very serious with that championship because it’s almost difficult to win the league”, said Muhiddin.

The former Harambee Stars tactician also added that he aims to drag the team back to the top in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) following a string of poor results which has left the team lying position 11th on 18 points.

“For sure we cannot win the league but we need to finish in a better position than we are because we all know Bandari is no longer a mid-table team,” he underscored.

At the same time, Muhiddin is scheduled to meet the club’s technical bench by end of the week to lay down his plans for the team as he tries to right Mwalala’s wrongs.

‘’We have to put things in order as soon as possible because our fans need results and that is why the changes have been made. Bandari has good players and I promise the management and our fans that by end of the season they will see some changes,” the former Harambee Stars charged.

The coastal based team will launch their Cup title defence against the winner between Re-union FC and Ogopa FC on Saturday.
