Bandari reaping bountifully for stellar KPL season

Bandari FC players will kick-off their preseason with a four-day tour to Zanzibar, which comes as a token after finishing second in the recently concluded Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season.

Bandari amassed 62 points to finish below reigning champions Gor Mahia, with a fine unbeaten run in the second leg of the league.

Announcing the Zanzibar trip during club’s awards day on Tuesday, Kenya Ports Authority Managing Director Daniel Manduku hailed the team for the outstanding performance saying more is to come if the tempo is maintained.

“Thank you for the job well done. As a motivation, I will send you to Zanzibar for a four-day training and two of excursion fully sponsored by Kenya Ports Authority before you start your coming season. None of you will be left out,” said the K.P.A boss.

Manduku also pledged to give half of his salary to the players by Thursday, amounting to half a million as part of motivation.

Abdhalla Hassan was voted the best player of the season, while DR Congo national Felly Mulumba was named the defender of the season.

Custodian Farouk Shikalo, currently with Harambee Stars in Ethiopia for the African Cup of Nations qualifier, walked away with the best goalkeeper award.

Shikhalo  was also among the players called by Sebastian Migne in Kenya’s two straight wins against Ghana and Malawi respectively having kept the most league clean sheets.
