Bandari sip Tusker to go second in KPL

Bandari FC kept their slim Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title hopes alive with an impressive 3-1 comeback win over Tusker FC at the Mbaraki Sports Club on Thursday.

Eugene Asike headed Tusker in front inside 23 minutes but Shaban Kenga struck 10 minutes later to ensure both teams went to the break on even terms.

Yema Mwana scored his fourth goal in three games to put Bandari ahead just two minutes after the restart after capitalizing on dreadful goalkeeping mistake from Emery Mvuyekure.

Substitute Benjamin Mosha then put the icing on a spirited second half show when he struck in stoppage time to seal the victory and take Bandari to within eight points of league leaders Gor Mahia FC.

Mvuyekure was at fault again for the sloppy manner in which he conceded the last goal after spilling Abdallah Hassan’s initial attempt from a free-kick.

After being beaten by Asike, Bandari custodian Farouk Shikhalo produced a stunning stop to deny Timothy Otieno from a one-on-one situation to keep his side well in the tie.

Both sides looked sharp but it were the visitors who had plenty of opportunities to kill the game earlier on.

Having come into this match barely 24 hours after beating Chemelil 3-1 at the same venue, the hosts looked fatigued but pushed hard to grab the win.
