Bankers make light work of All-Stars in NSL clash

KCB FC stunned struggling Nakuru All Stars 2-0 in a thrilling National Super League (NSL) match at Camp Toyoyo in Nairobi.

Left-back Dennis Ng’ang’a’s corner kick was successfully converted by Dennis Gicheru in the ninth minute before Chrispinus Onyango’s swift cross from the left flank was netted by Simon Munala in the 79th minute to seal a comfortable win for the bankers.

KCB dominated in the first half, but All-Stars gained momentum at the start of the second half when they started to trouble the bankers’ defence but their efforts did not bear fruits, thanks to KCB’s goalkeeper Mpongo Juma who out-mastered his opponents’ shots.

Nakuru All Stars coach Ezekiel Akwana and his assistant Evans Omondi were however granted marching orders in the 69th minute after the duo used foul language on match official.

KCB’s coach John Kamau was contented with the result and revealed that his side will seek to bag more points in the forthcoming matches.

“I am contented with the results and the most important thing is to focus on gaining points in our forthcoming matches so that at the end of the season we can find ourselves in a good position,” he told Citizen Digital in an interview.

John Kamau’s side moved to position two in the table, behind Western Stima who lead with a superior goal difference.

Earlier on at the same venue, Nairobi City Stars shocked Eldoret based side GFE 105 1-0 at the same venue to move to position seven of the NSL log.

Sande Katumba netted Jimmy Bageya’s corner kick in the wee minutes of the game to help Nairobi City Stars down GFE 105.

City Stars coach John Amboko was pleased with the performance of his side and said his team will continue to fight hard .

“I knew the game would be hard but I am pleased with the boys because they have pocketed the three points. We shall continue to tackle the matches ahead of us one by one,” the tactician said.
