Baraza keen to sharpen his attack in mid-season transfer window

Chemelil Sugar will not be signing any defender in the  mid-season transfer window despite letting in 19 goals in 16 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) matches, but will instead aim to bolster their attack.

Despite the leakage at the back, head coach Francis Baraza says the millers will entirely be looking to add strength in their offensive cast with three strikers on their radar with hope of finalizing the deals in the course of the week.

“The only area we are going to adress the striking force. We have already identified the players and organized with the bench. We will not do a mass recruitment, we will only sign two or three and they will be strikers,” revealed the former Tusker FC assistant coach.

Baraza is cognizant of the leaky back-line but is confident his side will soon be ticking once his young squad settles in the league.

“We are conceding yes, but we will not be looking to sign a defender. We are going to work with the defenders we have because we believe they have what it takes, but their potential has not been utilized fully. Most of them are young, they lack the experience. I believe things are going to be better, it is a learning process.”

Team Manager Hillary Ouma who is just over a year old in office, says they will be backing the coach in his transfer plans as they seek to rebuild a formidable unit to successfully see out the remaining part of the season.

“We will go with what the coach wants. We want to do our primary check and go by his will so that we give him the power to perform. In the course of the week you will see new faces,” said the former Chemelil defender.

The millers are second from  bottom on the log on 14 points from 16 matches having scored 10 goals, and have suffered 2-0 and 3-0 defeats in the last two  matches.
