Basketball clinics lined up for coaches and referees

Director of a basketball camp in Morocco, North Africa and former Head Basketball Coach AS-FAR Basketball team Coach Naoufal Uariachi, will jet in the country tomorrow afternoon to conduct Basketball clinics training that will take three weeks.

International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Africa in conjunction with Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF), will hold a Level 1 Coaching clinic. This is part of the 360 project.

The training will start on Monday 1st to 6th October at United States International University and then they will travel to Mombasa to conduct the same training as from 8th to 13th October.

“All the clinics will have 25 participants in which some who registered for the training have received online assignments, the participants are majorly basketball team coaches in Kenya “remarks Ronnie Owino Assistant head coach basketball Kenya.

Level one clinic have two modules that is done for one year, then level two, three and the fourth level is the Instructor, the training will help the coaches to know how to plan the league tournaments, make substitutions on their teams and how to make their players play a good basketball at the court.

In May, 2018, FIBA’s Regional Office in Africa launched the “FIBA 360 Basketball”, a FIBA member’s national federation development program which includes 11 countries of the region.

The project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase of the project will focus on the training programs for coaches and the equipment endowment programs (balls – scoreboards) and office,

The second phase will be based on the Strategic Planning Activities in 2019, and Development activities (Governance – Management-Finance & Administration – Technical – Marketing & Communication – Competitions) from 2020 – 2023

The objective of the program is to bring national federations of “Type 2” (with the low level of organization, but have an important growth potential) and “Type 3” (with average level of organization, but have an Important growth potential) towards the highest level: “Type 4″(Leaders)

The training will take places as follows

1. October 1st -6th -Upper Hill school, Nairobi
2.October 8th -13th -Mombasa.
3. October 15th -20th -Feba Diwopa, Nairobi
