Be patient with me, pleads Avire after nailing slot in Migne squad

Harambee Stars and Sofapaka striker John Avire has urged fans to be patient and give him time to prove himself as he bids to make his bow at the African Cup of Nations with the national football team.

Speaking after their training session at the National Centre of Rugby in Marcoussis, France, the striker acknowledged that being in Migne’s squad has greatly helped his career.

“I have gained a lot from the national team because every day I have to learn something new from the coaches and other players, some of whom are experienced internationals,” he said.

“ My time will come but all I’m asking for is patience, I believe I can do my best .They(fans) just have to believe in me, and with time I’m going to show those who did not know me better what I am capable of,” observed Bwire.

Avire alongside Michael Olunga and Masud Juma are the three out and out strikers who have made the cut in the Migne coached team for the continental showpiece.

“To me, all players in the Harambee Stars squad are my role models and I have still not reached that level that I want as a footballer.  I aim to play in foreign countries such as Victor Wanyama and Michael Olunga and I’m working hard to reach that stage,” he added.

Avire joined Sofapaka from Mount Kenya early this year and has been a key player for the 2009 league champions, scoring seven league goals to force his way in Migne’s Afcon squad.
