Be warned, we are stronger than last season- Matano

With the signing of experienced duo George Odhiambo and Humphrey Mieno, Tusker FC is warning other KPL contenders to brace for a fierce battle for the trophy this season.

The Brewers head coach Robert Matano is confident he has players to help the team win the title this season.

The 11-time Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions have largely signed inexperienced players during the transfer window but Matano believes the team has what it takes to win the league this term.

“The team is stronger and better than last season, we have players who will make a difference and I am hopeful we will grind out positive results,” Matano told Citizen Digital.

“We still have enough time to prepare and by the time the league kicks off we will be ready. Pre-season games are in the offing, we want to try several combinations and strengthen the parts we feel there is need to,” he added.

Mieno is expected to join the team this week after he sustained a knock during training and was left out of the squad which travelled to Tanzania for the pre-season tour.

The Brewers face league defending champions Gor Mahia in their opening game of the 2019/20 campaign.
