Berlin to face Al Ansar in North Eastern Chapa Dimba final

Defending champions Berlin FC from Garissa county will face Al Ansar from Wajir in the North Eastern regional finals of the Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom youth tournament to be played at the Garissa Teachers Training College Grounds (TCC), Garissa County on Sunday 23rd November 2019.

In the first semi-final of the day, defending champions Berlin FC from Garissa booked their ticket in the final after overpowering Al Mumtaz from Modogashe 4:0. Abdalla Maro opened the scoresheet on the 37th minute before adding a second in first half extra time, with Abdi Somo Gede and Abdi Karim Bashir adding the third and fourth goals in the 53rd and 82nd minute respectively. As the game drew to a close, two Al Mumtaz players were sent off for foul play when Yusuf Abdi Yusuf received a second yellow card in the 84th minute and Faid Abukar received a straight red card in the 86th minute.

“The match was tough but all along we knew we were up to the task as we had trained hard for the game. We put up a good fight, and we hope for a better performance against Al Ansar in the finals. I want to thank Safaricom for putting together this tournament for the 3rd consecutive season and urge them to keep on transforming lives through such initiatives,” said Ahmed Mohamed, Coach, Berlin FC.

Despite going a man down when Sibril Abdullahi was shown a red card in the 32nd Minute, Al Ansar, from Wajir, managed to hold off Mandera’s Admiral to a penalty shoot-out, where they prevailed 5:4 to set up a repeat of last season’s North Eastern regional finals with Berlin FC.

The winning team will walk away with Sh200,000 and an opportunity to compete at the national finals set for June 2020 .The loosing finalist will pocket Sh100,000.
