Kenyan Jairus Kipchoge Birech capitalised on American Evan Jager blunder to win the 3,000 race at the Paris Diamond League held on Saturday.

The Commonwealth silver medalist managed to defeat Jager and win the race after the American fell just before the finish line.

Jager managed to put up a brave fight to finish second in a time of 8:0.45 seconds while World Champion runner up Conseslus Kipruto finished third.

Olympic gold medalist Ezekiel Kemboi finished the race at 11th position.

On other races, Eunice Sum set a world leading time of 1:56.99 in 800 metres, with Cuba’s Rose Mary Almanza finishing second.
