Bitok urges speedy approval of Malkias training programme

National women’s volleyball team head coach Paul Bitok has urged Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) to fast-track Malkia Strikers’ training programme.

Bitok says he has already handed over his Olympic Games’ training layout to the federation, pending approval, as he eyes to have the team in camp on November 2.

Last Friday, the government gave only national volleyball teams the green light to start training ahead of their respective international assignments.

“I’ve presented my programme to the federation and now I’m awaiting their approval because it would be better for my team if we follow what is in that layout,” said Bitok.

According to the programme, which Citizen Digital has accessed, Bitok’s target is to have a gradual return to the camp before launching proper residential training starting in January next year.

“We intend to have two phases of training for the duration of two weeks, in November and December starting November 2nd to 15th and then resume again in December for another two weeks.

He added: “We will then go full time in January where we’re planning to have a residential training of two months before flying out for friendly build-ups in Europe.

The nine-time African champions sealed Olympic Games return last January after a 16-year absence.
