Blades braced for KCA response in KBF playoffs
Blades head coach is bracing for a gritty response from KCA tomorrow during Game 2 of the Kenya Basketball Federation league quarter-final playoff.
Blades out-shot KCA 52-34 in Game One and could wrap up the best of three contest to reach the semi-finals if they take Game Two of the series at the Nyayo National Stadium Gymnasium.
The Strathmore University outfit finished fourth in the regular season with 32 points, a point ahead of KCA University who finished one place behind in fifth.
“I am happy we are one foot into the semis since things worked for us in the first game but we expect a different game from our opponents in the second match,” Ochieng told Citizen Digital.
A win for KCA will tie the series, ensuring it lasts the full distance where it will be decided in Game Three on Sunday but Ochieng and his charges will be keen to avoid sharing the driving seat.
Meanwhile, defending champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) will look to utilize their home advantage when they host USIU in their game two and three of the quarters playoffs in Mombasa over the weekend.
The Dockers won the regular season and lead their series against USIU having Game One last weekend at Nyayo and will be ensuring they continue their dominance in the domestic league.
Elsewhere, Ulinzi who finished second with 35 points lock horns with Umoja after hammering them 56-34 in Game One while Thunder meet Equity Bank whom they defeated them 70-59 in the opening leg.
