Blow to Gor as Ochieng ruled out until next season

Gor Mahia has suffered yet another huge blow with defender Wellington Ochieng ruled out of action until next season.

Gor’s team manager Jolawi Obondo said that despite holding light training with his team-mates, the dependable defender will still need more time to recover fully.

According to Obondo, the team doctor had indicated the defender would be fit to play soon but that has not been the case as he is too cautious in training and scared of tackles.

“He needs time to recover physically and psychologically,”Obondo said.

Ochieng joins Burundian defender Karim Nzigyimana who has also been ruled out until next season in the treatment room.

Wellington suffered a minor fracture on his ankle during a league match against Bandari in Machakos on March 4, a setback that has seen him miss three crucial Caf assignments,

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia will be in Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos tomorrow to play Kenpoly FC from Baba Dogo in the Shield Cup from 3pm.

The Kenyan reigning champions are however still facing confusion ahead following a communication from CECAFA  requiring them to be in Tanzania by June 26 for the Cecafa Club Championship whereas KPL also expects them to play Posta Rangers on June27.

K’Ogalo are Kenya’s representatives in this year’s competition, having successfully defended the KPL title last term.
