Boost for Dala 7s as Vivo Energy injects Ksh 1 million for tourney

The Kenya Rugby Union has signed a partnership deal worth Ksh 1 million with Vivo Energy through Shell V-power to sponsor the fifth round of the National Circuit  popularly known a Dala Sevens to take place in the lakeside city of  Kisumu this weekend.

This is the second time Vivo Energy Kenya will be sponsoring the Dala 7s following a successful engagement in 2016.

After Dala 7s, the core teams will head to RFUEA grounds for the last leg of the Circuit, the Christie 7s.

Speaking during a press briefing in Nairobi, KRU CEO Sylvia Kamau hailed the partnership saying it will boost the growth of the game in the country.

“We are excited by the entrance of Shell Fuels and their lubricants as sponsors for this year’s Dala 7s, with corporate sponsorship like Vivo Energy Kenya’s guaranteeing the games growth.”

His sentiments were echoed by the KRU Honorary secretary Oduor Gangla.

“We are pleased with the partnership with Vivo Energy and look forward to having it for a while longer as we grow the sport.”

Being the second time the two are partnering for the Dala Sevens following a successful event in 2016 head of Lubricant Sales at Vivo Energy Stephen Gikonyo said: “It’s a good moment for us as we partner  with a sport that fits in to some of the company’s strategy.”

After this week’s outing in Kisumu, the Circuit heads to RFUEA grounds in Nairobi for the last leg to be played next weekend.
