Boost to Morans as foreign legion join camp

The national men’s basketball team has received a massive boost as they prepare for the Afrobasket qualifiers after two foreign based players joined camp.

According to head coach Cliff Owuor, the giant-framed Algerian based Ariel Okal and Preston Bungei, who plies his professional trade in Australia, have all linked up with the Morans at the Nyayo Gymnasium.

Meanwhile USA-based Ronie Gundo is expected to jet in tonight while Desmond Owili and Tyler Ongwae who play in Australia and Denmark respectively will link up by Friday as Bush Wamukota links up with the team in Rwanda.

The tactician is happy with progress made by his charges saying by Friday when all players join camp they will be at a ”better place” ahead of the tourney.

“They are catching up well with the rest of the squad. We are just waiting for the rest hoping by Friday when we have a full house we will be at a better place,” Owuor enthused.

The qualifiers are set to take place in Kigali, Rwanda  November  25-29 with Kenya facing Angola, Mozambique and Senegal.

The Morans qualified for the second round after winning the pre-qualification round that was held at Nyayo Stadium Gymnasium earlier this year.
