Boost to Shujaa as Union, players reach agreement

Paul ‘Pau’ Murunga, the head coach of Kenya rugby sevens team has been handed a massive shot in the arm after the Kenya Rugby Union and the senior players reached a return to work formula ending a tiff that has stretched for close to two years.

In a statement on its official portal, the Union said: “The Kenya Rugby Union held a meeting with the all senior Shujaa players who participated in the 2017/2018 HSBC World Sevens Series and agreed to terms on a return to work formula for the remaining part of the season.

“The boys are welcome in the team. They will be given an equal opportunity to train and a chance to be selected to play in the remaining legs. We still retain all the players that have been training and playing in the last 6 legs of the 2018/2019 season,” Said Murunga, Shujaa’s head coach.

The KRU Chief Executive Officer, Sylvia Kamau, echoed the coach’s sentiments stating that the Union is glad that both parties have come to agreement with four legs left in the 2018/2019 HSBC World Sevens Series season.better contracts from the union  but with the parties failing to reach an agreement they opted out

The team resumes training on Tuesday and the final squad will travel on April 31 for the Hong Kong7s where they are in Pool C alongside Fiji, New Zealand and Australia.
