Africa Boxing Union (ABU) middleweight champion Rayton Okwiri says he has eyes set on World Boxing Championship (WBC) title next year as well as extending his winning bouts to 10.

Okwiri who is currently on a six match winning streak said he is aiming at making it 10 out of 10 and that means leaving no margin for error in upcoming fights.

“Currently I am on 6-0, that is six wins without defeat and the plan I have with my manager is to finish with 10 wins

“ABU is a circuit of World Boxing Championship and as from next year I will be negotiating on going for WBC International then WBC World,” said Okwiri who was promoted to the position of Prison Sergeant recently.

The 33-year-old hard hitting boxer, who watched the National Boxing League finals held over the weekend in Mombasa, said he will be joining the provisional squad named for All Africa Games (AAG) in training when they report to camp.

“Right now I am on intensive training .I intend to join them (boxers selected) for training so that they get to help me in developing my speed as well as for sparring purposes,” he said.

Okwiri said he intends to use the training with the national team boxers to learn from them as well as share the notable experience he posses to the upcoming boxers.

Furthermore, Okwiri hailed the Kenyan squad tipping them to do better during the AAG in Morocco.

Mr ‘Boom Boom’ as he is fondly known will be in the ring for a non title contest bout on 17th of August against a yet to be named Russian champion. The fight is slated to be hosted in Kenya.
