Budding Indeche raring to shine with Shujaa, Simbas

Kabras Sugar forward Collins Indeche believes it is just a matter of time before he features for the national rugby 15’s team, his ultimate dream in the sport.

The Kakamega Boys alumnus was named the MVP in last year’s edition of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Rugby 15’s games in Arusha, Tanzania which earned him a contract with Kabras Sugar this year.

Indeche, 18, who can play as a second row and an eight-man is currently playing for Kabras Sugar team B and training with Kenya U-20 team.

“My target is to play for the national U-20 team which we’re currently in the training camp with and maybe in the coming two or three years play for the senior teams Simba or Shujaa,” Indeche exclusively with Citizen Digital.

His immediate project is earning a promotion into the Kabras first team; a step he feels should be the key to unlock his future in the national teams.

“What motivates me is the passion that I have for rugby, when I have the ball I just cool the pressure in me, then everything else works falls into the place. If I can break into the first team then my march into the national team will have been ignited,” offered Indeche.

Playing in the Eric Shirley Shield, he has already caught the eyes of head coach Henley Du Plessis.

According to Du Plessis, Indeche has an overwhelming talent and he believes that he has a great future ahead and he also applauded him for choosing Kabras to grow his talent.

“One or two years to come he will be a player to watch. His burning desire to fly the Kenyan flag with national teams is just amazing. He definitely has a great future in the sport, if he keeps on learning,” told Du Plessis.

“I’m really pleased that he decided to stay with us which is good for the future of our club. It also shows that you don’t have to move to Nairobi to get the so necessary exposure,’’ he added.

Indeche says his role model is New Zealand’s flanker Jerome Kaino the second U.S. national of Samoan descent to play for the All Blacks.
