Calm Shujaa land in Hong Kong, bullish of an impressive outing

Kenya Rugby Sevens team has arrived safely in Hong Kong ahead of the upcoming seventh round of HSBC World Series this weekend.

Forward Andrew Amonde confirmed their arrival in an online interview with Citizen Digital, saying that they have settled well and looking forward to the weekend assignment.

Shujaa will kick off their campaign against Canada at 2.56 pm on Friday, April 6.

“We have played against Canada before in the last outings of HSBC World Series this year, so for us, the aim is just to execute what we have learned in the training camp to attain positive results.”

They will then face Spain in their second pool match at 8.10 am on Saturday, which will be a repeat of their preliminary match in their last outing in Canada where Kenya outclassed Spain 43-0.

They will conclude their pool matches against Sydney Sevens champions Australia at 12.10 pm.

“Our target is to reach the quarter-finals of the main cup and attain our season’s target of ten points per outing.”

Amonde however believes that the strides they have made is “work in progress”. He said: “… our target each time we are on the pitch, and this has been shown by our performance in the last four legs where the team  attained their target of ten points is to perform well.”
