Cash-strapped Gor to benefit from CAF funds

Gor Mahia are among the teams across Africa that will receive some Sh 6.9 million from the  continental football body, the Confederation of Africa  Football(CAF) for teams eliminated from the second preliminary round of CAF interclub competitions.

CAF said in a letter that the monies are aimed at ‘’reducing the financial burden of participating clubs in the CAF interclubs competition that are not entitled to receiving any prize money”.

Gor were kicked out of the second tier CAF Confederations Cup by Napsa Stars of Zambia 3-2 on aggregate after losing 0-1 in Nairobi and drawing 2-2 in Lusaka, Zambia.

The funds will come as a relief to cash-strapped Kenyan champions who are having a stuttering run in the domestic league.
