CECAFA matches to be played across Ethiopia

The 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup will kick off on the 21st of  November to the 6th of December with 12 teams having confirmed participation and with Malawi being the guest team for the tournament in Ethiopia.

 

The Ethiopian government has fully sponsored the event and spread the games to three cities in the country.

 

The first two matches will be played in Addids Ababa. Brundi will take on Zanzibar in a Group B match at 2PM before hosts Ethiopia face Rwanda in a potentially explosive tie at the Addis Ababa Stadium.

On Sunday 22nd November,  Somalia and Tanzania face off at 2PM before Harambee Stars lock horns with Uganda Cranes at 4PM at the Addis Ababa National Stadium.

On Monday November 23rd,  teams in group A and B move to the Southern city of Awassa. Group C matches will be played in Bahir Dar.

 

“The tournament is fully sponsored by the Ethiopia government. They want to spread the games as much as possible through out Ethiopia. In fact, they wanted 16 teams so that we have more matches but we said no,” said CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye.

 

The matches will be played in Bahir Dar and Awassa from the 22nd of November to the 28th of November. The games move back to Addis Ababa on the 30th of November with the quarterfinal matches. The semis and the finals will also be played in Addis Ababa.

GROUP A:  Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Somalia

GROUP B: Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Zanzibar

GROUP C: Sudan, Malawi, South Sudan, Djibouti.
