Champs Kimilili ease into handball at National Games
The National handball champions St. Lukes Kimilili eased to the semi-finals after they won their second successive preliminary match at the Secondary School Games in Mombasa.
The Western Region representatives hammered Kanyawanga of Nyanza 31-11 on Day Two of the competitions this morning to secure their semis ticket.
Their coach Wekesa Wangwa said that they are facing each game at a time as they seek to retain their title.
“We are playing one game after the other but our target is to retain the title and compete for the East african title,” said Wangwa.
In other handball matches, Mbooni recovered from their opening loss with a crushing 34-09 win against Garissa High while in the Girls’ category defending champions Moi girls Kamusinga have also secured a place in the semis winning their second match by 24-13 against Dagoretti.
In hockey Coast representative Bura girls will be in a do or die match when they will face St.Cecilia Misikhu in day 3 as they both fight for the semi final berth as the preliminary stage comes to an end on Thursday.
Bura won their second match after drew in their first same as Cecilia.
According to Bura girls team coach Edwin Martin, they are ready for the fight terming the final game as what will decide their fate in the competition.
“Every team will be going for a victory in their final game so we expect a tight competition from St.Cecilia.”
