Champs KPA begin playoff final series with Ulinzi

Defending champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) will put their title on the title when they begin their playoff final series with Ulinzi Warriors at the Nyayo Gymnasium in Nairobi.

KPA topped the men’s regular league season with Ulinzi finishing runners-up meaning it’s two of the finest basketball teams in the country collide in the capital over the weekend for Games One and Two.

The last time the two met, Ulinzi hammered KPA 72-66 when by so doing they broke regular season unbeaten record and will ride on that fact for motivation.

KPA head coach Sammy Kiki admits it’s going to be a tough final.

“It’s going to be a tough final because these are the two best teams in the league; I respect Ulinzi but if we play together as a team both offensive and defensive then we will be able to stop them easily,” Kiki told Ctizen Digital.

His sentiments were echoed by the club’s captain Samuel Ocholla.

“It’s going to be tough series keeping in minds their performance over the weekend but I believe we have the personnel to match them up. We have trained well and if we keep the focus and everyone does what he is supposed to do then we will be well,” Ocholla added.

Mombasa will host the remainder of the five-match series of the playoff final.
